My Verdict

I liked this book because it is really a page-turner, exciting from the beginning to the end. I have read part one of The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel, and it was very exciting, but I think this book was even more exciting.
The characters are worked out very well. Their thoughts are explained very much, which is a problem for some readers, because there isn’t much left to their fantasy. T think myself it makes reading a book easy, and you are sure you read it as the author meant it to be. It also makes the motives of the characters clear if they do something that looks unnatural at first sight, but has a meaning behind it.
There are a lot of quite short chapters in this book, and every new chapter switches to another storyline. This is nice, because if one storyline is boring a little, the story rapidly switches to another storyline, helping you through the tough parts.
The ethical view of this book is quite “black and white”. There are only bad guys and good guys, there isn’t much draft on this point, but I don’t think it matters because this book is meant to be exciting and not to make you think about philosophy and ethics.
Altogether it was a nice book to read. In might not be high-level literature, but that isn’t what I had expected of it, and it isn’t bothering me at all. I hope I will get a chance to read the sequel soon.
